West Indies Oil Company Limited (WIOC) is urging residents to stop stockpiling liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders, stating that supply across Antigua and Barbuda remains fully adequate to meet normal consumer demand.

The company has observed a sudden and significant spike in cylinder purchases, which it attributes to unnecessary public concern and speculation. WIOC confirmed there is no shortage of either product or cylinders, and called on the public to refrain from panic-buying.

WIOC also moved to quash rumours of an impending price increase, stating clearly that no discussions with the Government of Antigua and Barbuda regarding any rise in LPG cylinder prices have taken place.

The company said it is monitoring the situation closely and has put measures in place to ensure the continued reliable supply and distribution of LPG throughout both islands.

Customers experiencing any localised supply or distribution difficulties are encouraged to contact WIOC's Call Centre at 462-WIOC (9462) or by email at [email protected].
