The British High Commission (BHC) in Antigua and Barbuda joined forces with the Antigua and Barbuda Athletics Association (ABAA) to celebrate Commonwealth Day 2026, shining a spotlight on the vital role of youth and sport within the Commonwealth.

According to Antigua Observer, on March 5, the BHC and ABAA organised a Commonwealth-focused initiative that brought together several former Commonwealth athletes and more than 60 young athletes for the occasion.

The event, tied to the CARIFTA Trials, saw the Resident British Commissioner commend the young athletes for their dedication and participation. The collaboration underscored the Commonwealth's enduring commitment to nurturing athletic talent and fostering unity among its member nations through sport.

The initiative reflects a broader effort by the BHC to engage with local communities and institutions in Antigua and Barbuda, using landmark occasions such as Commonwealth Day to celebrate shared values and inspire the next generation of competitors.
