Rising global oil prices could soon translate into higher fuel costs for consumers in Antigua and Barbuda, according to the chief executive of the West Indies Oil Company (WIOC). As reported by Antigua News Room, the executive says price increases are already being felt in the cost of imported fuel products.
The WIOC chief noted that the price of West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude has been climbing, with the effects beginning to register in the cost of fuel shipments entering the country.
Antigua and Barbuda, like many small island nations, is heavily dependent on imported fuel and remains particularly vulnerable to fluctuations in global oil markets. Any sustained increase in crude prices typically flows through to pump prices and the broader cost of living for residents.
