The British High Commission in Antigua and Barbuda joined forces with the Antigua and Barbuda Athletics Association (ABAA) to celebrate Commonwealth Day 2026, shining a spotlight on the vital role of youth and sport within the Commonwealth.

According to Antigua News Room, on March 5 the two organisations co-hosted a Commonwealth-focused initiative that brought together several former Commonwealth athletes and more than 60 young athletes. The event coincided with the CARIFTA Trials, providing a timely platform to recognise the next generation of sporting talent.

The Resident British Commissioner took the opportunity to commend the young athletes participating in the trials, acknowledging their dedication and the broader significance of sport in strengthening Commonwealth ties.

The collaboration between the High Commission and the ABAA reflects a shared commitment to nurturing athletic development among Antiguan and Barbudan youth, while reinforcing the values of community and cooperation that underpin the Commonwealth.
