The coach of the Antigua and Barbuda Men's Under-20 Football Team is calling on the government, the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association (ABFA), and other stakeholders to step up with financial support for the squad as they prepare for the next stage of their Concacaf journey.
According to Antigua Observer, Schyan Jeffers made a passionate plea for assistance following the team's successful campaign in Group C of the Concacaf U-20 Qualifiers, held in Costa Rica.
Jeffers made clear that the road ahead would be demanding, stressing that the young players — widely known as the Benna Boys — deserve meaningful backing given what they represent for the nation.
"They represent us," Jeffers was quoted as saying, underlining the pride and responsibility carried by the squad on the regional stage.
As reported by Antigua Observer, the coach urged the government and the ABFA to recognise the achievement of the young footballers and ensure they are adequately resourced to compete at the Concacaf U-20 Championships.
The qualifier success marks a significant milestone for Antiguan youth football, and Jeffers indicated that without proper financial investment, the challenges of competing at the championship level could prove difficult to overcome.
