JSC Red Hawks overcame a 14-point deficit to defeat All Saints Slam 82–79 on Thursday night at JSC, in a dramatic finish to the opening match of the ABBA Division One basketball season.
According to Antigua Observer, the Red Hawks trailed significantly for much of the contest but mounted a resilient comeback that came to fruition at the final buzzer, securing the narrow three-point victory.
The result demonstrated both the competitive depth of ABBA Division One and the Red Hawks' capacity to fight back from adversity under pressure. All Saints Slam, who had controlled large portions of the game, were ultimately unable to hold off the late surge.
In the second match of the evening, Ovals produced a more commanding performance, cruising past Ottos in what proved to be a far less contested affair.
The twin-bill opening night set the tone for what promises to be a compelling Division One season, with the Red Hawks' comeback win standing as an early statement of intent from the JSC-based club.
