Former president of the Antigua Turf Club (ATC) and horse owner Neil Cochrane says concerns about the future of horse racing in Antigua remain unresolved, despite recent discussions with the organization's current leadership. According to Antigua Observer, Cochrane met with sitting ATC president Hansen Richards and other members of the body to address issues that had previously been raised.
Speaking recently on the Good Morning Jojo Show, Cochrane indicated that while the meeting took place, it did not fully put his concerns to rest. He expressed hope that the outstanding issues — particularly those surrounding uncertainty over the racing track — can still be addressed in a satisfactory manner.
Cochrane, a longtime figure in the local horse racing community, has been vocal about the challenges facing the sport. His concerns center on the future viability of the track and what that means for horse owners, trainers, and enthusiasts who depend on a functioning racing infrastructure.
As reported by Antigua Observer, the former ATC president stopped short of pessimism, suggesting he remains hopeful that dialogue between stakeholders can lead to meaningful solutions. The sport, he implied, is at a critical juncture that requires decisive action from those currently at the helm of the Antigua Turf Club.
