The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda has officially opened a satellite police post at the Antigua Recreation Grounds (ARG) as part of its security arrangements for Carnival 2026.
The post comes online just days before the nation's official Carnival celebrations, scheduled to run from July 25 to August 4, 2026.
Strategically positioned in the area of the grounds formerly occupied by the Sir Vivian Richards Players' Pavilion, the facility is fully operational and equipped with essential services. It provides officers with a dedicated base from which to coordinate security operations throughout the Carnival season.
Commissioner of Police Everton Jeffers welcomed the initiative, describing it as a timely and important addition to the Force's security framework. He noted the post will strengthen the physical presence of police in and around Carnival City while giving officers an effective operational hub during the festivities.
The Police Administration expressed gratitude to the Antigua and Barbuda Festivals Commission for its partnership in making the initiative possible. Appreciation was also extended to the Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) for providing essential utility services to the facility, and to the management of Townhouse Mega Store for donating a desk telephone to the post.
The satellite post will remain operational for the duration of the Carnival season, with an increased police presence planned during major shows and events at Carnival City. Members of the public requiring police assistance may call 462-0789.
