The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda has established a satellite police post at the Antigua Recreation Grounds (ARG) ahead of Carnival 2026, reinforcing security at the nation's premier festival venue. According to Antigua.news, the facility is now fully operational and will serve as a command hub for officers throughout the Carnival season, which runs from July 25 to August 4.
The post is situated at the site formerly occupied by the Sir Vivian Richards Players' Pavilion. It will function as a central coordination point from which officers can manage operations and respond swiftly to incidents during one of the busiest periods on the national calendar, when thousands of patrons are expected to attend events at Carnival City.
Commissioner of Police Everton Jeffers described the satellite post as an important addition to the Force's Carnival security arrangements. He said the location gives officers a stronger presence in and around the venue while providing a dedicated base for coordinating their response to any incidents that may arise.
Police officials confirmed the post has been equipped with essential services to ensure officers have a functional and comfortable base of operations for the duration of the celebrations.
The Police Administration credited the Antigua and Barbuda Festivals Commission for partnering with the Force to bring the initiative to fruition. It also acknowledged the Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) for supplying the utility services needed to run the facility, and thanked Townhouse Mega Store for donating a desk telephone for use at the post.
The satellite post will remain open for the full duration of Carnival, with an increased police presence anticipated during major shows and events at the ARG. Members of the public requiring police assistance while at Carnival City can reach the post directly by calling 462-0789.
