Police are searching for a lone gunman after a 29-year-old man was shot and killed on a public road in Potters on Sunday morning, with a second man left in critical condition. According to Antigua.news, the attack has intensified concerns over gun violence in Antigua and Barbuda.

The deceased has been identified as Leyandrew Hubbard of Potters. A second victim, a man from Urlings, was wounded in the same attack and remains hospitalised in critical condition.

The shooting took place at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Ladoo Road. Officers responding to reports of gunfire discovered Hubbard on the southern side of the roadway, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at 12:37 p.m.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Hubbard was playing cards with several other men under a roadside shed when a lone gunman approached and opened fire before fleeing the scene. The second victim sustained a gunshot wound to his back and was transported to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre by Emergency Medical Services, where he is expected to undergo surgery.

Investigators are appealing to the public for any information that could assist in identifying and locating the suspect. The Police Administration has also urged the gunman to surrender himself at the nearest police station without delay.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Criminal Investigations Department at 462-3913 or 462-3914, or to report anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 800-TIPS (8477).

Commissioner of Police Everton Jeffers and the Police Administration have extended their condolences to the Hubbard family as detectives continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal attack.
