A 66-year-old Villa resident is recovering at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre after sustaining a gunshot wound Monday evening, as police hold a suspect in custody in connection with the incident.

At approximately 6:45 p.m. on Monday, July 13, a 40-year-old Mount Joy man walked into the Parham Police Station and reported his involvement in a shooting. Officers took him into custody, along with a firearm.

The victim suffered a single gunshot wound to the right side of his chest. He remains in stable condition and is receiving medical treatment.

The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda announced the suspect is being held on suspicion of Shooting with Intent while investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident continue.
