A series of home invasions in the village of Swetes culminated in a high-speed police pursuit, a vehicle crash, and the arrest of suspects on Monday.
Intruders forced entry into a home shortly before noon by damaging the deadbolt on the back door while one of the homeowner's daughters was inside. The suspects demanded money and gold before fleeing with EC$165 in cash and an iPhone.
The homeowner subsequently discovered that at least two other residences in the village had also been targeted. A neighbour confirmed their home had been robbed as well.
Later that evening, police pursued the suspects through Swetes. During the chase, the suspects crashed a silver vehicle into a fence before attempting to flee on foot. Officers apprehended them shortly after.
The affected resident expressed relief that their daughter was not physically harmed during the ordeal. They appealed to anyone with information relevant to the investigation to contact the police.
The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda has not yet issued an official statement confirming the incidents or the arrests.
