The Office of the Chief Health Inspector is calling on the public to help locate relatives of four deceased individuals whose bodies have remained unclaimed for months, according to Antigua.news.
In a public notice, the office confirmed that the bodies are currently being held at Straffies Funeral Home on St. John's Street while authorities await contact from next of kin.
The four deceased have been identified as Gintaras Lokocikas, whose body was received into care on May 16, 2025; Kelvin Anthony, received on June 10, 2025; Vernon Hippolyte, received on April 6, 2026; and George Phillis, received on April 24, 2026.
Family members are urged to contact Straffies Funeral Home at 462-0575 to make arrangements for a private burial.
Health officials have warned that if no relatives come forward within 14 days of the publication of the notice, the Government will proceed with burying the deceased in a public cemetery. The Office of the Chief Health Inspector further cautioned that once those burials have taken place, no legal action regarding the matter will be entertained.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the deceased, or who may be related to them, to contact Straffies Funeral Home as soon as possible to avoid government-arranged interments.
