The Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) has announced that essential maintenance at the Fort James Reverse Osmosis Plant will cause temporary water supply disruptions across more than a dozen communities beginning Tuesday, July 14.
According to Antigua News Room, APUA's Water Business Unit confirmed that one of the plant's production units will be taken offline for the maintenance work, reducing overall production capacity and resulting in intermittent water service for affected customers.
During the maintenance period, water will be available daily between 4:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. The work is expected to be completed by the afternoon of Friday, July 17, at which point the unit is scheduled to return to full service.
Communities expected to experience disruptions include Dry Hill, Fort James Beach, Runaway Beach, Sandals Resorts, Villa, Yorks, McKinnons, Crown Gardens, Upper Fort Road, Friars Hill Road, Gambles, and Point.
APUA apologised for the inconvenience and asked for customers' patience, noting that the maintenance is necessary to improve the long-term reliability of the island's water supply.
