A shark was reportedly spotted close to shore at Ffryes Beach on Sunday, prompting warnings for beachgoers to remain vigilant. According to Antigua.news, witnesses observed the shark swimming near the shoreline, raising concern among swimmers and others at the popular beach.

The sighting adds to growing unease over a series of recent shark incidents in Antigua and Barbuda's coastal waters. The latest episode comes just weeks after a fisherman from Urlings suffered serious injuries when a shark bit him on the hand while he was at sea. That fisherman continues to recover from the attack.

While shark encounters remain relatively uncommon in local waters, the back-to-back incidents have heightened awareness among both residents and visitors frequenting the island's beaches and coastline.

Authorities are advising sea bathers, snorkelers, and other water users to exercise caution, stay alert while in the water, and exit the sea immediately if a shark or unusual marine activity is observed nearby.
