Antigua and Barbuda has secured the right to host CARIFESTA 2029, after Caribbean leaders accepted the country's bid at the 51st Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).
According to Antigua News Room, the decision was announced in the meeting's final communiqué, positioning Antigua and Barbuda as the host of the Caribbean's premier festival of arts, culture and heritage.
CARICOM Heads of Government also accepted Guyana's offer to host CARIFESTA 2027, confirming the next two editions of the festival.
CARIFESTA — the Caribbean Festival of Arts — brings together artists, musicians, performers, writers and cultural practitioners from across the region. The festival features exhibitions, concerts, theatre productions, literary events and a wide range of cultural showcases, and is widely regarded as one of the Caribbean's largest celebrations of creative expression.
The communiqué offered no details on Antigua and Barbuda's proposed programme or venues for the 2029 edition, though the decision affords the twin-island nation several years to plan and prepare for the regional event.
The announcement adds to a growing international profile for Antigua and Barbuda. The country is also preparing to host the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in November 2026, a major international gathering expected to draw world leaders and thousands of delegates to the nation.
