ST. JOHN'S, Antigua — The Fisheries Division has announced a training session on fisheries laws and regulations, scheduled for Friday, July 17, as part of its Fisher Professional Development Training Programme, according to Antigua News Room.
The session will run from 10 a.m. to noon in the meeting room at the Point Wharf Fisheries Complex on Lower North Street.
As reported by Antigua News Room, Chief Fisheries Officer Ian Horsford issued a notice confirming that the module is a required component for obtaining a local fisher's licence and for upgrading from trainee fisher status to professional fisher.
The Fisheries Division has indicated the training is primarily aimed at newly registered fishers and experienced fishers who have not yet completed the course. However, all fishers are welcome to attend, subject to available space.
Interested participants are encouraged to reserve a space in advance by calling 462-1372 and should have their Fisher ID on hand when registering.
The Division noted that the training forms part of its broader, ongoing professional development programme for fishers across Antigua and Barbuda.
