The High Court of Justice will close all three of its divisions on Friday, 10 July 2026, as Antigua and Barbuda prepares for a major national security drill ahead of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM). According to Antigua News Room, the closure affects the Civil, Criminal, and Family Divisions of the Court.
The shutdown is necessitated by Exercise STRONGHOLD, a national security exercise designed to prepare the country for CHOGM. Authorities expect the drill to significantly disrupt access to and from the High Court building, with road closures, traffic diversions, and security operations anticipated throughout the surrounding area.
All matters previously scheduled for Friday, 10 July 2026 have been rescheduled. The Court Registry will contact all parties with their new hearing dates. Individuals represented by an attorney are advised to reach out to their legal counsel directly for further information. Self-represented litigants may contact the High Court Registry at (268) 462-3744.
The High Court is expected to resume normal operations on Monday, 13 July 2026.
The Court has apologised for any inconvenience caused and expressed appreciation for the public's understanding and cooperation.
