The Treasury Department of the Ministry of Finance and Corporate Governance will be closed to the public on Friday, 10th July 2026, as part of a national security exercise ahead of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).
The closure is necessitated by Exercise STRONGHOLD, a national security exercise running from 8th to 10th July 2026. As part of the exercise, authorities will establish a designated security zone covering sections of St. John's — bounded by Newgate Street to the north, New Street to the south, Parliament Drive to the east, and Corn Alley to the west. The Treasury Department falls within this zone. Both vehicular and pedestrian access to the area will be restricted for the duration of the exercise.
All in-person services at the Treasury Department — including payments, exchanges, and general inquiries — will be unavailable on Friday. Normal operations are set to resume on Monday, 13th July 2026.
Members of the public with urgent matters are encouraged to visit the Department on or before Thursday, 9th July 2026. Alternatively, the Department can be reached by telephone or email during regular business hours.
The Accountant General issued the notice on behalf of the Treasury Department, apologising for any inconvenience and thanking the public for its cooperation as Antigua and Barbuda prepares to host CHOGM 2026.
