Officers from the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda have launched a public awareness campaign to inform residents and business owners about an upcoming Hard Lockdown Security Exercise, part of the nation's preparations for the 2026 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM). According to Antigua News Room, officers have been meeting with members of the public and the business community to explain what to expect during the drill.
The exercise, scheduled for next Friday, is designed to test Antigua and Barbuda's security and emergency response capabilities ahead of CHOGM 2026. Residents and business owners have been advised to expect temporary road closures, restricted access to designated security zones, and traffic diversions during the exercise.
The Royal Police Force said the outreach initiative is intended to help the public and local businesses prepare in advance, minimising disruption when the exercise takes place. Officers also fielded questions from residents during the awareness campaign.
Police thanked residents and business owners for their cooperation and support throughout the campaign and encouraged the public to remain informed and plan accordingly ahead of next Friday's exercise.
