Foreign Affairs Minister E.P. Chet Greene is chairing the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting 2026 Preparatory Committee, known as PrepCom, at Marlborough House in London, according to Antigua News Room.
The committee sessions run from June 30 to July 3, 2026, bringing together Commonwealth Member Countries to advance preparations for the 28th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting. Antigua and Barbuda will host the summit in St. John's from November 1 to 4, 2026, under the theme "Accelerating Partnerships and Investment for a Prosperous Commonwealth."
Opening the proceedings, Minister Greene welcomed Heads of Delegation and representatives on behalf of Antigua and Barbuda in its capacity as incoming Chair-in-Office and host of CHOGM 2026. He thanked Commonwealth Secretary-General the Honourable Shirley Botchwey for her stewardship and acknowledged Samoa — the previous Chair-in-Office and CHOGM host — for its guidance and support.
"As host, Antigua and Barbuda looks forward to welcoming you all to St. John's in November, and we are determined that this PrepCom lay the strongest possible foundation for a successful CHOGM," Minister Greene said.
PrepCom represents a critical milestone on the road to CHOGM 2026, giving Member Countries the opportunity to shape the draft Communiqué and advance discussions on key Commonwealth priorities. Those priorities include democracy, development finance, climate resilience, trade and investment, digital inclusion, reparatory justice, and shared prosperity.
Minister Greene urged delegations to work toward an ambitious and action-oriented outcome, stressing that Heads of Government had called for "not just declarations, but decisions that make a tangible difference."
During the proceedings, Her Excellency Karen-Mae Hill, High Commissioner for Antigua and Barbuda to the United Kingdom, provided an update on the country's CHOGM 2026 preparations, including logistical arrangements being coordinated with the Commonwealth Secretariat.
Minister Greene reaffirmed Antigua and Barbuda's commitment to working closely with Member Countries and the Commonwealth Secretariat to deliver a successful and consequential summit.
The Antiguan and Barbudan delegation included High Commissioner Karen-Mae Hill, Minister Counsellor Chantal Phillip, Second Secretary Brent Scotland, and Third Secretary Caleb Gardiner.
