Two major education infrastructure projects are advancing steadily, with Cabinet receiving progress updates on both the new Five Islands Primary School and the planned expansion of the University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus.
Education Minister Daryll Matthew told the latest Cabinet meeting that construction of the Five Islands Primary School remains on schedule. A public update on the project's progress is expected next week.
The UWI Five Islands Campus expansion is also moving forward, with its procurement process drawing considerable market interest. Approximately 18 firms have expressed interest in the project ahead of the August 14 deadline for bid submissions.
The government has described both initiatives as significant investments in education infrastructure, designed to improve learning opportunities and further cement Antigua and Barbuda's position as a regional hub for higher education and research.
Cabinet expressed confidence that the projects will deliver long-term benefits for future generations and advance the country's broader national development goals.
