Minister for Social and Urban Transformation Hon. Rawdon Turner has received high commendation from Cabinet following his presentation on the 16th Meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA). According to Antigua.news, Cabinet praised the minister for his strong representation of Antigua and Barbuda at the regional forum.
The meeting centred on strengthening disaster preparedness, improving emergency response capacity and building resilience across the Caribbean. Cabinet welcomed the outcomes of the gathering as important steps forward for the region.
Minister Turner highlighted Antigua and Barbuda's growing leadership role in regional disaster management, pointing to the country's participation in the Supply Chain Assessment (SCAN) Programme and its role in hosting Caribbean Disaster Relief Unit (CDRU) training as key contributions.
Cabinet also welcomed CDEMA's efforts to modernise regional emergency response systems and develop a new strategic plan extending beyond 2027. The Government reaffirmed its commitment to working alongside the National Office of Disaster Services (NODS) and regional partners to better protect communities across the country.
The commendation signals the Government's confidence in Minister Turner's leadership and his continued efforts to advance Antigua and Barbuda's disaster preparedness and resilience at both the national and regional levels.
