The Department of Immigration, under the authority of Minister responsible for Immigration, the Honourable E.P. Chet Greene, has announced the launch of the 2026 Immigration Amnesty Programme, giving eligible individuals the opportunity to regularize their immigration status under the laws of Antigua and Barbuda.
The programme, implemented pursuant to the Immigration and Passport (Amendment) Act, 2026, will run from Wednesday, 1st July 2026 to Wednesday, 30th September 2026.
The amnesty is open to persons who meet the eligibility criteria outlined by the Department. Applicants are required to present all necessary documents at the time of submission. The Department has cautioned that incomplete applications may cause delays in processing or may not be accepted until all outstanding requirements have been satisfied.
Applications will be received at Immigration Headquarters, Monday to Friday, between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. All applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis using a numbered queue system to ensure an orderly and efficient process.
Members of the public with general enquiries outside of designated application hours are encouraged to contact the Department directly. Further information, guidance, and any additional documentary requirements will be provided to applicants upon submission of their applications at Immigration Headquarters.
The Department has emphasized that eligibility to apply under the Amnesty Programme does not guarantee approval. Each application will be assessed on its individual merits in accordance with the Immigration and Passport (Amendment) Act, 2026, and all other applicable immigration laws and policies.
The Department of Immigration is encouraging all eligible persons to take advantage of this opportunity and to regularize their status within the prescribed amnesty period.
