Residents of Antigua and Barbuda are being advised to prepare for unsettled weather conditions this afternoon and evening as a tropical wave moves across the region.

According to Antigua News Room, local weather forecasters have placed an 80% chance of showers affecting the islands, with rainfall totals expected to range between 1 and 5 millimetres (0.04 to 0.20 inches).

Forecasters also warn of a 30% chance of thunderstorms during the afternoon hours, with that probability rising to 40% by evening.

Authorities are urging motorists and residents to exercise caution, particularly in areas prone to localised flooding or reduced visibility during periods of heavy rainfall. The tropical wave is expected to bring intermittent bouts of disruptive weather throughout the day.
