The Ministry of Health, Wellness, Environment and Civil Service Affairs has formalized an agreement with China's He Vision Group for the donation of specialised eye care equipment, marking a significant step forward for ophthalmic services in Antigua and Barbuda.
The agreement was confirmed during a meeting that brought together Minister of Health Hon. Michael Joseph; Dr. He Wei, Founder of He Vision Group; Ms. Helen Yan, Assistant to the President of He Vision Group and Director of the Social Responsibility Department; H.E. Clement Antonio, Antigua and Barbuda's Ambassador to China; and H.E. Ian Marshall, Grenada's Ambassador to China.
The equipment is currently being prepared for shipment and is expected to enhance the country's capacity to deliver specialised eye care, while broadening access to diagnostic and treatment options for patients.
Minister Joseph welcomed the partnership and expressed gratitude to He Vision Group for its commitment to supporting healthcare development in the country.
"This partnership represents an important step in strengthening eye care services within our healthcare system. We are grateful to He Vision Group for this generous contribution and look forward to the arrival of the equipment, which will support improved eye health outcomes for the people of Antigua and Barbuda," Minister Joseph said.
Beyond the equipment donation, the discussions also explored future collaboration in ophthalmology, blindness prevention, medical training, and the expansion of specialised eye care services.
He Vision Group is internationally recognised for its work in ophthalmology, medical education, blindness prevention, and eye care innovation, operating through a network of hospitals, research institutions, and training programmes.
The Ministry of Health has expressed its commitment to continued engagement with He Vision Group as both parties work toward advancing eye health services and improving access to quality healthcare for residents of Antigua and Barbuda.
