The Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force Coast Guard (ABDFCG) has recovered the body of a 56-year-old man at Pigeon Point Beach following an overnight search and rescue operation. The recovery was made at approximately 6:45 am on Thursday, June 25, 2026, according to Antigua News Room.
The man had entered the water at around 2:00 pm on Wednesday afternoon for a swim. A beachgoer reported witnessing him experiencing difficulties near the boundary of the designated swim area, after which he was not seen again.
The Coast Guard responded promptly, launching Search and Rescue operations in collaboration with Antigua Barbuda Search and Rescue (ABSAR), the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda, and local divers operating in the area. Teams conducted an extensive dive operation to locate the missing man. However, poor underwater visibility forced authorities to suspend the search, which resumed the following morning.
The Coast Guard Dive Team located and recovered the deceased during the resumed search on Thursday morning. His body was transported to Coast Guard Headquarters at Deep Water Harbour, where a district doctor pronounced his death at approximately 8:22 am.
The ABDF Coast Guard expressed its sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, wishing them strength and comfort during this difficult time.
