The Waltham Forest, Antigua & Barbuda and Dominica Twinning Association (WFTA) has concluded its Connect2Reconnect (C2R) Pilot 2026 delegation visit, reaffirming long-standing ties between the London Borough of Waltham Forest and its Caribbean partners. According to Antigua News Room, the visit marked a significant milestone in the association's 27-year history.
Led by Chair Mervin Caesar-John, the delegation traveled to Antigua, Barbuda and Dominica between April 20 and May 8. The programme included meetings with government officials, community leaders and cultural organisations across all three destinations.
In Barbuda, delegates met with Member of Parliament Trevor Walker and Barbuda Council Chair John Mussington, and also visited The Lit! Project. In Antigua, the delegation held discussions with Governor General Sir Rodney Williams, with topics ranging from community wellbeing to dementia awareness.
The delegation then traveled to Dominica, where members participated in stakeholder meetings, attended the Jazz 'n Creole Festival and engaged in a range of media and cultural activities.
As a formal gesture of commitment, framed twinning declarations were presented in each destination, reaffirming the partnerships first established in April 1999. The WFTA described the Connect2Reconnect initiative as an important milestone as the association looks ahead to 2026.
