Regional heads of government are gathering in Antigua and Barbuda today for the 78th Meeting of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Authority. According to Antigua News Room, Prime Minister Gaston Browne will assume the chairmanship of the subregional body during the two-day summit.

Scheduled for June 21 and 22, the meeting brings together OECS leaders to address key regional priorities, including economic growth, trade, climate resilience, security, and deeper integration among member states.

Browne's assumption of the chairmanship coincides with the OECS' 45th anniversary, celebrated under the theme, "One Vision, One Voice: Navigating Challenges, Shaping Our Future."

The Prime Minister has signaled his intention to use his tenure to strengthen regional cooperation, with a particular focus on transportation, energy, trade, investment, and shared services.

The opening ceremony is set for 4 p.m. today and will be streamed live on the OECS' official Facebook and YouTube platforms. Substantive discussions among regional leaders are expected to continue on Monday.
