ST. JOHN'S, Antigua and Barbuda — The National Cleanup Programme has expanded its environmental maintenance operations across several Rural East communities, with crews undertaking grass cutting, bulk waste removal, tree trimming and drainage cleaning throughout the area.

According to Antigua News Room, the National Solid Waste Management Authority reports that current work is concentrated in the Skerritt's Pasture and Mahico Drive areas, with crews advancing eastward toward Kings Glass Road before moving into the northern section of the constituency.

In the Sutherlands Development area, chainsaw operators and backhoe crews are working in tandem to clear overgrown trees and vegetation. Officials stated the exercise is designed to improve accessibility, enhance public safety and create a cleaner environment for residents.

The Authority confirmed that the ongoing operations are part of a broader effort to maintain roadways, clear drainage systems and keep communities clean and orderly throughout the region.

Cleanup activities are expected to continue in additional areas as crews progress further through the constituency.
