Prime Minister Gaston Browne has called on Cabinet members to honour the mandate given to them by the people of Antigua and Barbuda following the Government's decisive victory at the last General Elections.
Speaking at this week's Cabinet meeting, Browne stressed that the overwhelming electoral mandate carries an unwavering obligation to deliver meaningful results and remain focused on improving the lives of citizens. He urged ministers to serve with diligence, humility and a renewed sense of purpose, insisting that the Government's agenda must be driven by tangible outcomes that directly benefit communities across the country.
Among the administration's stated priorities for the remainder of its term, Browne highlighted an ambitious infrastructure programme aimed at completing no less than 75 per cent of the nation's road network within the next four years.
The Prime Minister also outlined plans to enhance preparations and infrastructure for major national events, including Carnival and the upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM). Further priorities include expanding and modernising street lighting across communities, increasing tree planting and environmental beautification initiatives, and intensifying efforts to create cleaner communities throughout Antigua and Barbuda.
Browne also confirmed that the programme to remove derelict and abandoned vehicles from communities will continue as part of a broader strategy to improve public spaces, enhance community aesthetics, and promote a healthier and safer environment for residents.
Cabinet reaffirmed its collective commitment to honouring the confidence placed in the Government by the people, pledging to continue advancing policies and programmes aimed at driving national development and improving the quality of life of all Antiguans and Barbudans.
