Men aged 20 and older are responsible for 80 percent of teenage pregnancies in Antigua and Barbuda, according to a leading reproductive health researcher. According to Antigua Observer, the finding was presented by Dr. Frederick Nunes during Observer Radio's The Big Issues programme.
Dr. Nunes revealed that more than half of those pregnancies — 55 percent — involve men between the ages of 20 and 24, highlighting a significant pattern of adult men fathering children with teenage girls in the twin-island nation.
The data raises serious concerns about the sexual and reproductive health landscape in Antigua and Barbuda, as well as broader questions around child protection, legal accountability, and public health policy.
