A man convicted of indecently assaulting a woman and attempting to choke her inside her own home has been sentenced to six years in prison, according to Antigua Observer.

The jury delivered its guilty verdict in March, rejecting the defendant's claim that the encounter had been a prearranged agreement for sex in exchange for money. The court found him guilty on both counts following the trial.

As reported by Antigua Observer, the sentencing brings to a close a case involving a violent assault committed against a woman within her own residence, a detail that underscored the severity of the offence before the court.
