Prime Minister Gaston Browne has informed Parliament that the Office of the Information Commissioner is expected to be ready for occupancy within six months, though work on the facility remains ongoing.
According to Antigua News Room, Browne made the disclosure while responding to parliamentary questions about both the current location of the office and the timeline for its completion.
On the question of readiness, Browne cited advice from the Attorney General. "The AG just advised me within six months," he said.
Browne also confirmed that construction and finishing work at the site has not yet been fully completed, noting he had received an update from the Member of Parliament for St. John's City South. "I'm told that there's still some work to be done on the building," the Prime Minister said.
The office currently operates from the Francis Trading building on High Street. No additional details were provided regarding the scope of the remaining work or a specific date by which the office is expected to become fully operational.
