A former Carlisle Bay Resort employee is awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to shooting two co-workers outside the luxury hotel nearly three years ago.
According to Antigua.news, Frederick Henry appeared before the High Court on Monday and entered guilty pleas to a series of serious charges, including attempted murder, shooting with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, unlawful possession of a firearm, and unlawful possession of ammunition.
The charges relate to a 2023 incident in which Dean Anthony and Morissa Henry were shot and seriously injured shortly after finishing their work shift at the resort. Court records indicate the two victims were walking toward the hotel's main gate when the shooting took place. Both sustained severe injuries and required medical treatment. Henry was also employed at Carlisle Bay Resort at the time.
Henry's guilty plea moves the case closer to resolution, sparing the victims and witnesses the burden of a prolonged trial. The court must now determine an appropriate sentence for the offences, which carry significant penalties.
During the sentencing phase, prosecutors are expected to present details of the incident and outline its impact on the victims. The defence is anticipated to submit mitigating factors on Henry's behalf.
The court has yet to announce a date for sentencing.
