A Liberta resident has raised concerns about the way police handled two separate reports involving a woman allegedly carrying a large knife in public, according to Antigua News Room.

The resident reported first spotting the woman shortly before 9 a.m. on Friday in Liberta. She was described as wearing a bikini top and jeans and standing near a fruit and vegetable stand while holding what appeared to be a large knife.

Concerned for public safety, the resident proceeded to the Liberta Police Station to report the incident. However, they claim that while an officer took their name and telephone number, no formal report appeared to be recorded.

Several hours later, the resident encountered the same woman near the entrance to All Saints. The woman allegedly still had the knife in her possession and was seen throwing a hubcap across the roadway while traffic was passing. The resident then called 911 and was transferred to the All Saints Police Station, where officers were given directions to the woman's location.

As reported by Antigua News Room, the resident subsequently returned to the Liberta Police Station to provide an update, but again observed no notes being taken and said the officer did not request any additional information.

The claims have not been independently verified, and it remains unclear whether police located or made contact with the woman.

The resident said they turned to the media out of concern that a potentially dangerous situation may not have received sufficient attention from authorities.
