A concerned resident is calling for urgent action after reporting a knife-wielding woman to police on two separate occasions in a single day — and alleging that officers failed to properly document either report.
According to Antigua.news, the incident began shortly before 9 a.m. on Friday when the resident, travelling through Liberta after leaving home in Falmouth, observed a woman in a bikini top and jeans carrying what was described as a large knife. The woman appeared angry or disturbed and was standing on a patch of land adjacent to Mama Dupes, a fruit and vegetable stand that was open for business at the time.
Concerned for public safety, the resident drove immediately to the Liberta Police Station to report the matter. They allege that while an officer took their name and telephone number, no written report appeared to have been made.
The situation escalated later that morning. Shortly before midday, the resident encountered the same woman near the entrance to All Saints, after descending Clarks Hill. The woman was allegedly throwing a hubcap across the roadway while traffic was passing and was still carrying the large knife in plain view.
The resident contacted emergency services by calling 911 and was transferred to the All Saints Police Station, where they provided directions to the woman's location.
The individual then returned to the Liberta Police Station to report the second sighting, where a different shift was now on duty. The resident alleges that once again no notes were taken and that the officer on duty did not ask for their name or any additional details.
The claims have not been independently verified, and it remains unclear whether police subsequently located or made contact with the woman.
Frustrated by what they describe as an inadequate response, the resident said they chose to bring the matter to the attention of the media out of concern that a potentially dangerous situation had not received the level of urgency it warranted.
