A father's concern over a missing kitchen knife inadvertently led to the discovery of cannabis in his teenage son's school bag at a secondary school in Antigua last Friday.

According to Antigua Observer, the parent contacted the school and requested that staff search his child's bag after he noticed the knife had gone missing from the family home. The subsequent search uncovered the cannabis.

The incident highlights the role parents can play in identifying potential issues involving their children, as it was a domestic concern — rather than a school-initiated check — that prompted the discovery.
