National Youth Ambassador Byron Christopher is representing Antigua and Barbuda at an international leadership seminar in China, centred on youth development, economic cooperation and global engagement.

Christopher is participating in the Seminar on Young Leaders under the Global Development Initiative, a programme that brings together emerging leaders from across the world for lectures, site visits and cultural exchanges.

The Department of Youth Affairs confirmed the seminar is being delivered by government officials, experts and scholars from several Chinese institutions, including the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the University of International Business and Economics.

The programme covers a broad range of topics designed to strengthen leadership capacity and international cooperation. Areas of study include the Global Development Initiative and youth engagement, Chinese modernization, economic development and reform, digital innovation, sustainable development, investment and financing, and cross-cultural communication.

Photos released by the Department of Youth Affairs show Christopher participating in classroom sessions alongside fellow delegates drawn from multiple countries.

One session focused on investment and construction opportunities under China's Belt and Road Initiative, while others examined economic development strategies and approaches to sustainable growth.

The Department of Youth Affairs noted that Christopher's participation gives Antigua and Barbuda a presence in discussions on global development, while affording the youth ambassador direct exposure to international perspectives on leadership, innovation and cooperation.

The seminar forms part of broader efforts to engage young leaders in addressing development challenges and building partnerships across countries and regions.
