A major appliance donation will allow the Zion Church of God to expand its long-running feeding programme for vulnerable residents in Antigua. According to Antigua News Room, the Lions Club of Antigua and Cool & Smooth Store jointly presented the church with a new refrigerator valued at EC$8,500.
The appliance was donated to the church on North Street, St. John's, where it will support the preparation and storage of meals distributed through the outreach initiative.
For more than 35 years, the church has served meals to people in need across Antigua. Every Wednesday, volunteers prepare more than 45 lunches, with Lions Club members assisting in delivering the meals to recipients throughout the community.
The Lions Club contributes more than EC$21,000 annually to the programme and also supplies fresh vegetables harvested from its community garden on Upper Church Street.
Church volunteers expressed gratitude to both the Lions Club and Cool & Smooth Store for their continued support of the initiative and their ongoing commitment to reducing hunger in Antigua.
