Two delegates from local environmental organisation Good Humans 268 Inc. have represented Antigua and Barbuda at separate international environmental forums in France and Uzbekistan, according to Antigua News Room, spotlighting the nation's commitment to climate action, sustainability and youth engagement on the global stage.
Kelisha Pigott, logistics coordinator for Good Humans 268, travelled to Paris to attend the closing event of the UNESCO x Nestlé Youth Impact: Because You Matter – For Environmental Sustainability and Climate Action programme. The initiative supports 100 youth-led environmental projects around the world through grants, mentorship and capacity-building resources.
Simultaneously, Joshuanette Francis, president of Good Humans 268 Inc., represented the organisation in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, as part of the Chemicals and Waste Youth Platform delegation at the 8th Global Environment Facility Assembly and Associated Meetings. The assembly convened representatives from 186 member countries to address biodiversity, climate change, pollution, land degradation and environmental financing.
The Global Environment Facility holds special significance for the organisation. Funding received through the GEF Small Grants Programme helped launch Good Humans 268's Student Community Service Recycling Project — an initiative that has since diverted more than two million recyclable items from Antigua and Barbuda's landfill, engaged thousands of students and created opportunities for persons with disabilities.
The organisation said participation in both events allowed its delegates to share Antigua and Barbuda's on-the-ground experiences while forging new partnerships and drawing lessons from environmental efforts in other countries.
Good Humans 268 added that it remains firmly committed to advancing climate action, disability inclusion, waste management and sustainable development, and to ensuring Antigua and Barbuda maintains a voice in critical global environmental discussions.
