Police have detained two suspects in connection with the killing of 35-year-old Sheldon Dias in Mock Pond, All Saints, as investigations into the Friday incident continue.
According to Antigua.news, Dias was found with multiple wounds following an altercation involving two other individuals that occurred shortly before noon. Officers responding to the scene discovered him lying at the rear of a yard. A medical doctor later visited the location and pronounced Dias dead at 1:45 p.m.
Authorities subsequently arrested one man and one woman on suspicion of murder. Both remain in custody as investigators continue their inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the killing.
News of Dias' death spread rapidly through the community, leaving residents stunned. The Police Administration issued a statement extending condolences to the Dias family as they cope with their loss.
Investigators are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or who holds information relevant to the case to contact the Serious Crimes Unit at 462-3913 or 462-3914. Tips may also be submitted anonymously through Crimestoppers at 800-TIPS (8477).
