A young man was hospitalised with stab wounds following a dispute over a wallet on St. Mary's Street, according to Antigua News Room.
The incident reportedly began inside a mobile phone store, where the victim was seated when his wallet accidentally fell to the floor. Another patron who entered the establishment allegedly picked up the wallet before the owner could retrieve it.
The situation escalated when the victim requested the return of his property. The individual in possession of the wallet allegedly began removing cash from it before attempting to leave the premises.
The victim followed the suspect outside, where a confrontation ensued. During the altercation, the suspect allegedly used a pair of scissors to wound the victim before fleeing the scene.
As reported by Antigua News Room, authorities have been made aware of the incident. The victim's condition has not been disclosed, and it remains unclear whether any arrests have been made in connection with the attack.
