The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda is searching for a group of men suspected of robbing and wounding two crew members from a vessel docked at Heritage Quay.
The attack occurred around 1:20 a.m. on Thursday, June 4, along Popeshead Street. The two male crew members were walking back to their vessel when a group of men approached and attacked them.
Both victims sustained multiple injuries during the assault. One suffered wounds to his face and head and was treated on the spot. The second victim, who sustained several wounds to his head and arm, was transported to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre. His condition is described as serious but stable.
A backpack containing personal documents and a small amount of cash was stolen during the incident.
The Royal Police Force condemned the attack. "The Police Administration condemns this senseless act of violence and remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of both residents and visitors to the country," the force stated in a release from its Office of Strategic Communications.
