Twenty Barbuda residents have obtained first-time driver's licences within the first month of Senator Kendra Beazer's office operation, according to Antigua News Room. The office has described the milestone as a sign of progress and expanded opportunity for islanders.
In an official statement, the office said the achievement reflects its commitment to empowering young people and broadening access to opportunities on the island. Residents who are ready to obtain a driver's licence are being encouraged to join the next registration group.
Alongside the licensing initiative, the office is pressing the Barbuda Council to act on a proposal to construct improved roads across the island. Officials argue that stronger infrastructure is central to unlocking greater opportunity for residents.
"We're calling on the Barbuda Council to prioritize our proposal to build better roads because safe, reliable infrastructure is the foundation of opportunity," the statement read.
The office made clear that development must not be stalled by hesitation, urging broad support for projects designed to improve residents' quality of life.
"Better roads mean better access to schools, healthcare, and jobs. They connect families, strengthen commerce, and build resilience," the statement added.
The office said it remains committed to advancing Barbuda through infrastructure improvements and expanded opportunities, positioning both the licensing programme and the roads proposal as part of a wider vision for the island's future.
