Eight volunteers from the Antigua and Barbuda Red Cross Society (ABRCS) have successfully completed specialised training designed to bolster disaster preparedness and community resilience across the twin-island nation.

According to Antigua Observer, the volunteers were certified in the Enhanced Vulnerability and Capacity Assessment (eVCA) methodology following training conducted between March and April 2026. The programme brought together participants from across the Caribbean region.

The eVCA methodology equips volunteers with the tools to assess community vulnerabilities and capacities in the face of disasters, enabling more targeted and effective responses to emergencies. The certification represents a significant step forward for the ABRCS in building local expertise in disaster risk management.

The completion of this training strengthens the organisation's capacity to support communities throughout Antigua and Barbuda as the country faces ongoing climate and disaster-related challenges.
