Antigua's Meteorological Office is sounding the alarm over a troubling connection between extreme heat and rising domestic abuse incidents, as the country braces for scorching temperatures over the next three to six months.
According to Antigua Observer, climatologist and meteorologist Orvin Paige warns that prolonged exposure to extreme heat without relief causes tempers to flare, contributing to an uptick in domestic violence cases.
Pagee's caution comes as forecasters predict an extended period of intense heat across the region, raising concerns not only about public health and safety but also about the social consequences that extreme weather conditions can trigger within households.
