The Right Honourable Sir Rodney Williams, Governor General of Antigua and Barbuda, has issued a heartfelt tribute following the death of Sir Aziz Fares Hadeed KCMG, CBE, describing the loss as both a national and deeply personal one.
According to Antigua Observer, Governor General Sir Rodney Williams and Her Excellency Lady Williams expressed profound sadness upon learning of the passing of Sir Aziz, whom they described as a dear brother and treasured friend.
"It is with profound sadness and a deep sense of personal loss that Her Excellency Lady Williams and I learned of the passing of our dear brother and treasured friend, Sir Aziz Fares Hadeed KCMG, CBE," the Governor General stated.
The tribute reflects the high regard in which Sir Aziz was held at the highest levels of Antiguan society and government. Sir Aziz Fares Hadeed was a distinguished figure in Antigua and Barbuda, recognised with some of the nation's and Commonwealth's most prestigious honours, including the Knight Commander of the Order of St. Michael and St. George (KCMG) and Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE).
The Governor General noted that Antigua and Barbuda has lost a significant figure with the passing of Sir Aziz, underscoring the depth of the impact his life and legacy have had on the nation.
