The Antigua and Barbuda government has secured EC$150 million from a consortium of banks to fund major road rehabilitation works across the twin-island nation, according to Antigua.news.
The announcement was made during Tuesday's Throne Speech, delivered by Governor General Sir Rodney Williams. The financing will support the repair and upgrading of major highways and community roads throughout the country.
As reported by Antigua.news, the funding will be backed by a small annual user fee levied on vehicle owners.
The government highlighted several roadways that have already undergone upgrades, including the Sir George Walter Highway, Friars Hill Road, Sir Sidney Walling Highway, Valley Road, and the Parham to Willikies corridor. All Saints Road was also identified as currently undergoing major renewal works.
