The Caribbean Community (CARICOM), the United Nations (UN), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have formally launched two landmark regional documents aimed at tackling crime and violence across the Caribbean.
The CARICOM–UNDP Diagnostic Document and the Proposed CARICOM–UN Framework for Action were unveiled in St. Kitts and Nevis, establishing a shared and coordinated implementation path for confronting crime and violence throughout the region.
Central to both documents is a public health lens approach to addressing crime — a framework that treats violence as a preventable public health issue rather than solely a law enforcement matter. The launch marks a significant step toward unified regional action on one of the Caribbean's most pressing challenges.
